Skin Peels in our Bournemouth Clinic
Skin peels come in three different options: Superficial peels, medium peels and deep peels, each with their own benefits.
Which skin peel is best for you?
Superficial peels
Glycolic is the superficial peel, used on younger skins. It starts at 40%, if the desired effect is not achieved then it goes up to 70%.
This skin peel, as the name suggests, affects only the top layer of skin (known as the epidermis), revealing the still-living layer of smooth skin beneath it.
It’s the best treatment for acne.
Medium Peels
Radiance Peel is medium and for more mature skin.
Medium peels tackle and cleanse both the upper and medium levels of skin for longer effects.
The removal of the deeper skin layer may result in the skin going reddish for a few days afterwards, with a recovery time or around 3 to 4 days before the skin fully returns to normal.
While this is a longer-lasting treatment, it is recommended that you repeat it every 3 months for continued results.
Deep Peels
The most invasive of the peels.
Once the procedure is complete, the skin around your face will experience peeling, redness and general discomfort for a few days afterwards. Any swelling can last for about two weeks, with redness known to last for up to 3 months after the treatment.
About skin peels
Chemical skin peels are an incredibly popular dermatological treatment for the upper, middle and deeper layers of skin, removing dead skin cells and rejuvenating your face without any need for surgery.
As non-invasive and non-surgical treatment, skin peels are a chemical solution that is applied to like a face mask. The chemicals within the agent damages the superficial layer of dead skin and removes it to reveal the new layer of skin beneath it.
Your body recognises this as an injury, encouraging it to quickly regrow new, living skin cells to replace the cells that were lost, rejuvenating your face, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and age spots and can even help fade light scarring.
