Over time our skin loses its full, firm, youthful appearance.  From an early age the amount of collagen our body produces slows down.  Collagen is the substance our body produces to give the skin its fullness and elasticity.  As we age we lose fat tissue and our faces become thin and narrow making us look older. The procedure fills in sunken cheeks, sculptures high cheek bones, tear trough and gives the face a mini lift.

Do I always need to have a skin test?

No skin test is necessary.

Does it hurt?

The treatment does involve injections with very fine needles, depending on which area is being treated this can cause a slight discomfort. Pain relief in the form of a mild local anesthetic is often used. Most people say that the treatment is uncomfortable rather than painful. A couple of paracetamol an hour before the treatment is advisable to help with the discomfort.

How often will I need treatment?

There are many different factors which will dictate this. It depends on the area being treated and of course everyone’s skin is different and will absorb the product at a different rate thus affecting time scale.

• Sculptra requires 3 treatments in 3 successive months. Mainly used for enhancing cheek bones, sunken cheeks and chins.
• Ultra Deep is done in 1 session, mainly for tear trough and high cheek bones.
• Both will last for at least a year.

What happens to the afterwards?

For optimum effects it is important to massage the treated area twice daily for 10 days.   There may be some tenderness, redness, bruising or swelling at the site of the injection, but these generally resolve in 2-6 days.
